Bidvest Waltons – Building Transformation
As a proudly South African business, Bidvest Waltons believes in the socio-economic upliftment of the previously disadvantaged, and the empowerment of all our stakeholders. As a Level 2 BBBEE contributor, we are committed to the ethical codes and business practices we’ve set in place, as well as our core brand values, and strive to continually raise the bar with transformation in mind.
We believe in sustaining a healthy society and working environment, and recognise our responsibility in contributing towards the creation of an equitable business sector and a better future for all South Africans.
Bidvest Waltons is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Bidvest Group, who are a JSE-listed company. We acknowledge the necessity of a BEE framework that is fair, broad-based and inclusive, as well as the importance of initiatives that are measurable in determining the achievement of our objectives.
We support and comply with the Employment Equity guidelines set out by the South African Department of Labour, and believe our BBBEE framework should enhance business practices without compromising on standards of quality we have come to be known for. As a good corporate citizen, we are enablers for various start up enterprise & supplier development initiatives. We contribute meaningfully to ensure that these enterprises are successfully integrated into the market.
Training and Development
We currently offer an experiential learning programme in wholesale and retail, as well as a graduate internship programme. We hope these training initiatives will form the backbone of an enriching and nurturing environment, so that candidates are able to unlock their potential, network and thrive.
Supplier and Enterprise Development
We have invested in Black Women Owned Exempt micro enterprises and have successfully coached and mentored these emerging Black entrants to participate in the mainstream economy. We are also exploring several enterprise development initiatives in the mining sector.
We strive to align our procurement policies with our BBBEE policies, and source products from BBBEE compliant businesses. To date, over 90% of our procurement spend is with BBBEE compliant companies. Our Level 2 ranking also means that for every R100 that our clients spend with us, they can claim back R125 in procurement value on their BEE assessment scorecard.
Our aim is to build a workforce fully representative of the South African community, and ultimately provide people from all walks of life with the tools they need to succeed.
This has always been a core focus at Bidvest Waltons. We believe that the success of an individual is the success of the community, and the focus of our on-going community initiatives is aimed at upliftment of black communities through assistance in providing stationery to disadvantaged scholars and educational institutions
